Problem:

Students have problems connecting to Read Live website and may see the following message:

Sorry! Read Live has run into an unexpected problem.
Please tell your teacher, and try again later.
Solution:

Read Live is hosted on the Amazon Web Services network. Contact your information technology department, and ask them to check the following in their web filter/firewall settings:

  • Your school must have full access to the following addresses:
         d2mpbb4fo746a9.cloudfront.net
         d8uogq4zlm61x.cloudfront.net
         rl-api-production.us-east-1.elasticbeanstalk.com
         rl-reports-api-production.us-east-1.elasticbeanstalk.com
         d1h4he9xzz1tbb.cloudfront.net
If your school prioritizes Internet traffic for different websites, consider increasing the priority for these addresses.

  • You may also need to add the following URL to your web filter's allow list:
         https://readlive.readnaturally.com

  • If you are using more than one Internet Service Provider (ISP), then we recommend that you direct all traffic from the above addresses to go through just one of your ISPs.

  • MP3 files must not be blocked, because MP3 files are used for the audio support in Read Naturally Live. To test whether your computer can play MP3 audio files, please click the following link:
d1h4he9xzz1tbb.cloudfront.net/media/RNLiveContent/audio/log-check.mp3 (This test address does not need to be added to web filters)
If your computer can play MP3 files, you will hear an audio message; otherwise, you will receive a message from within your network stating that the MP3s are being blocked.
